# Character State Runtime Inspector

Open Tools → Director Suite → Runtime Inspectors → Character State Runtime Inspector during PIE/SIE. The tool is strictly read-only: it observes the selected runtime context and Character State component, displays typed state values, and retains editor-session result/journal presentation. It has no state edit, reset, debug override, or revert controls.

The state table updates from Character State’s committed state-change notifications. Select a runtime context and Character target to inspect. When no valid target exists, the Inspector reports that state is unavailable.

For operations that change live Character State, open Tools → Director Suite → Runtime Controls → Character State Runtime Controls. The two surfaces share the product identity but have separate roles. See Editor Tools for controls, scope, and safety behavior.
